Scope of work

Concept Project. The journal, authors and articles are fictional. Content is stored in code; no CMS or server is connected.

The brief

Create the opening screen of an independent architecture, design and culture journal.

The challenge

Stories of different importance need a clear hierarchy without a grid of identical decorative cards.

The solution

An oversized newspaper masthead, three unequal columns, a monochrome lead photograph, Most Read and an acid-colour category strip.

Features

  • Editorial CSS Grid
  • Category filters
  • Demo article reader
  • Authors, dates, issue and Most Read
  • Moving strip with reduced-motion support

Development process

  1. 01

    Defined the newspaper-style type hierarchy.

  2. 02

Built the lead story and side columns.

  3. 03

Added filters and a reading dialog.

Built for
mobile.

The layout and navigation adapt to smaller screens. This screenshot shows the page at a width of 390 pixels.
